Advent
Services
Join
us on our journey through the Advent season as we
look at Dreams of Christmas: Visions in the Night Proclaim the
Savior. We
will follow Matthew's story of Christ's birth through the dreams of
Joseph and
the Wise Men. Our midweek Advent services will be on
Wednesday, December
3, 10 and 17 at Noon and 6:30 pm. Come and worship with us as
we proclaim
the Savior's birth!
Live
Nativity
Our
annual Live Nativity is scheduled for the night of December 19th. The night begins with the
story of the birth
of Jesus told using verse and song while live actors recreate the scene
around
a manger on Canal St. The
activities
then move into the church where musical performances by our school
children and
professionals may be enjoyed and traditional Christmas Carols are sung
by
all. A second live
retelling of the
Christmas Story is then presented outside.
Light
refreshments are offered and pony rides for the children will also be
available.
Christmas
Angels Project
St.
John’s Christmas Angels project this year is to
assist the members of the St. John Lutheran Church in Galveston,
TX. The church was deeply affected by Hurricane Ike
and is trying
to reestablish the building as well as the
membership. An appeal is
being made to our congregation to help with collection towards the
purchase of
gift cards for the St. John Galveston
members.
