The Pre-K classroom is home to 16 active 3 and 4 year olds. They have quickly settled into our routines and procedures and are eager to learn. We have Jesus time every day but Wednesday when we go to chapel. In Jesus time, we have had the stories of Creation, the Fall into Sin, and Noah. Singing and moving to music are favorite activities. In addition to our Jesus time songs and the usual "kid" songs, we listen and move to some classical music each week. We have enjoyed listening to "Carnival of the Animals" by Saint-Saens and the aria "The Laughing Song." Next week, when we study the Letter B, we will listen to Bluegrass music and get a chance to hear and play a banjo. Thank you for keeping the students and staff in your prayers. - Julie Bedard, Pre-K Teacher

Our Kindergarten class has 11 students and we are the "Monkey" class; Curious George is our special mascot. We have a lot of fun with George- especially when we are chosen Top Banana of the Week and get to take him home with us for the weekend! We also enjoy having our parent come to read to the class that week.

We enjoyed reading about how God created the earth, and how Moses lead the people out of Egypt. We are learning new prayers too!

We are learning how to play the hand bells and hope to play for a church service some day. We also like learning about instruments in the orchestra and playing instrument Jingo! Our rhythm band instruments are fun too! We all love the new Bongo drums!

Curious George turned 5 so we had a big birthday celebration for him!
We did Curious George puzzles and took our pictures with a Curious George mask on...and we had CG cupcakes too!

Our class loves to taste new things. Each week we work with a letter of the alphabet and try to taste new foods that begin with that letter. For "A" week we tried artichoke, asparagus, almonds, apricot and avocado. For "B" week we tasted beets and Ms. Wood's blueberry jam! We cracked open a coconut for "C" week -- and had cranberries and cantaloupe. We tried Dates, Edamame, eggplant and even figs! Sometimes we find out we like things we thought we didn't! We like to bake in class too- we baked Banana muffins and blueberry muffins! Yum!

We celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day by reading stories about him and tasting 6 kinds of apples. We had: Red delicious, Gala, Paula Red, Yellow Delicious, Fuji, and Granny Smith! They were "delicious" of course!

Our first fieldtrip was to the Old Metairie Library. We had story time under the trees, made a Columbus ship art project, and then had lunch. It was a great day!

We loved meeting Ronald McDonald when we went to the Ronald McDonald House! We learned about what they do for families of sick children. Ronald told funny jokes and also helped us learn about Louisiana agriculture.

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and enjoyed reading many of his stories. The best part, of course, was cooking and eating green eggs and ham! Delicious!

Michelangelo was interesting to learn about! We read about his life and his great works of art- especially the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. We decided we wanted to be "Michelangelo" artists! We taped big paper under our tables. Then we laid under the tables on our backs and drew our "masterpieces"! We worked long and hard-- and our arms got tired! How did he do it!!?!! You can visit our hallway and see our "masterpieces" !!

Last week we took a trip to Red Bluff Farm in Folsom, LA. Farmer Bryant taught us about many farm animals. We watched him milk Marcy the cow, and we even got to feed calves with a giant baby bottle of milk. We planted corn seeds and harvested radishes. We had a hayride and a wonderful picnic lunch. We got to pet a lamb, a goat, and chicks. The best part was when Farmer Bryant made Ms. Wood kiss the baby piglet!!!
