Social Ministry Activities COAT DRIVES are conducted in January and all new or ‘gently used' winter clothing is accepted including sweaters, jackets, long sleeved clothing and long pants. This ministry helps keep the less fortunate warm during our short but cold winters. The ALMS BOX, located in the Narthex of the Church, allows members to donate throughout the year to a special fund that helps the needy and transient with housing, clothes, transportation, and food. BLOOD DRIVES are conducted semiannually in the spring and the fall. They afford members the opportunity to insure valued blood replacement should a need arise. THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS are distributed to needy families of the church, school and community during Thanksgiving week. Nonperishable food items are collected throughout the month of November and donations of fresh fruits, vegetables and turkeys are received. Baskets are assembled the last Sunday before Thanksgiving. MEDICAL EQUIPMENT is available to those in need on a lending basis. CHRISTMAS ANGELS is a special appeal to the congregation to assist either needy St. John families or other groups in need as a special gift at Christmas time. Social Ministry offers a wide range of giving opportunities that YOU make happen with your prayer, gifts, talents and time. THANK YOU!
